In order to support Ministry of Health of Lao People’s Democratic Republic in the prevention and control of COVID-19, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long, Acting Minister of Health of Vietnam awarded Ministry of Health of Lao People’s Democratic Republic 200,000 medical masks in the afternoon of July 15, 2020, in Hanoi.
Attending the ceremony, to Vietnam side, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long, Acting Minister of Health of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and leaders of Departments and Agencies of Vietnam Ministry of Health; To Lao PDR, there was Mr. Sèng Phet Hung Bun Nhuong, The Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Lao PDR in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Long highlighted that the two countries Vietnam – Laos have had a comprehensive relationship over the years. The two governments also have built up very close cooperation activities during COVID-19 pandemic. Vietnam highly appreciates the efforts of Laos Government as well as Laos People in the prevention and control of COVID – 19. Vietnam and Laos are also negotiating and discussing for early normal activities in all aspects.
Acting Minister of Health of Vietnam also emphasized, a part from to COVID-19, there are many borderless diseases, so it is necessary to strengthen communication system between the two sides, along with technical support, Lao students assistance in Vietnam; equipment requests … The two government , and Two country – Ministry of Health should have closer coordination in the upcoming time.
Also at the ceremony, receiving gifts from Ministry of Health of Vietnam, Mr. Sèng Phet Hung Bun Nhuong, The Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Lao PDR in Vietnam expressed his honor, on behalf of Laos Government, received this meaningful gift and congratulated Vietnam on the great achievements in prevention and control of diseases over the past time, considerably appreciated Vietnam’s health sector for the great contribution. He appreciated and confessed the depression of Vietnam Government, Vietnam people, as well as Ministry of Health of Vietnam for Laos Government and Laos People. He also said that, although Laos has not recognized any new cases for more than 3 months, Laos Government and Laos People still determines to invoke serious measures on duty of disease prevention and control, not be ignored.
